Director of Business Development
Jeff Townsend has managed construction projects with budgets totaling over $400 million dollars during the last two and half decades. He’s experienced with a diverse range of projects in both the public and private sectors; including restaurants, retail outlets, hospitality properties, resorts, offices, renovations of aged facilities and government projects.
He joined Innisfree in 1999 and worked his way up through the company ranks to President of Development and then more recently to his current position as Director of Business Development. Within three years of starting with the company he renovated all of Innisfree’s hotels while overseeing maintenance and capital improvements.
Mr. Townsend also built Innisfree’s successful development department which today is focused on land use planning, permitting, financing and the execution of large hotel and condo projects. Innisfree experienced remarkable growth during Mr. Townsend’s tenure as President of Development and completed several high profile projects including the Holiday Inn Resort, Hampton Inn & Suites, Seawind Condos, Soundside Market and Innisfree Jet Center. Holiday Inn Resort was selected by Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG owns 4,400 hotels under 7 brands) as Developer of the Year for this project.
Mr. Townsend started his career as a residential builder and project engineer. He worked in the positions of Project Manager, Superintendent, Senior Project Manager, Executive Project Manager and President of Development. He is experienced in every stage in the life cycle of a successful project including cost engineering, conceptual design, construction and closeout. He’s also skilled at the infinite details necessary to execute successful projects such as hiring staff, setting up the job site, hiring subcontractors, coordinating the build, negotiating owner contracts and managing consultants.
Mr. Townsend has an ASCT Distinction in Building Economics from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
