Innisfree Hotels bought the 119 room Holiday Inn Express, On the Beach, in Orange Beach in June of 2003; the hotel was seven years old. Upon purchase Intercontinental Hotels Group, parent company of the Holiday Inn Franchise, ordered a complete renovation of the hotel. Estimates for a make over of that scope were $1,500,000 but the Innisfree Development team completed the project for less than $850,000
Innisfree managers increased the hotel sales by by 43% within the first year. They also reduced expenses by 15% and increased the Net Operating Income by 50%. By 2008 we had doubled the record sales of the previous owner. After hurricanes Ivan (2004) and Katrina (2005) the Holiday Inn Express was the first hotel in Orange Beach to reopen. Despite the effects of an economic recession in 2009, and BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010, the hotel eclipsed sales records in 2011.
